Types of Invisalign Aligners
Can Invisalign Treatment Work for Children and Teens?
Yes! Invisalign is a great treatment option for children and teens because it offers easy oral hygiene maintenance. While there are different bite issues common among young patients, Invisalign treatment can still be very effective when we customize each approach to the patient’s unique bite issues. And because we use 3D computer technology to help design a treatment plan, you can even see the projected outcome before treatment begins.
Invisalign Treatment for Teens in New Orleans
Plus, Invisalign treatment for teens can often be completed in as little as 12 months, which may be much shorter than traditional braces, which can take up to 24 months. This means your teen can get the same results as traditional braces, but in less time and hassle-free.
Unlike traditional metal braces that may impact some teens’ self-confidence, Invisalign treatment can be ideal for those who want to avoid the “metal mouth” look, which other patients may actually enjoy showing off. With Invisalign, your loved one’s teeth grow straighter daily, without the fear of flashing a mouth full of braces. There are fewer diet restrictions with Invisalign clear aligner treatment for teens as well. Additionally, Invisalign treatment means shorter visits to our office because there are no wires to adjust or brackets to maintain.
Invisalign for Adults
The flexibility that comes with being able to remove your Invisalign clear aligners when you eat, brush, or during special occasions makes them a top choice for adults.
Invisalign is very well suited for the active lifestyles of most adults today. Invisalign clear aligners are comfortable and easy to use because they fit perfectly over teeth, so you only need to remove them when eating and for your regular oral hygiene. Additionally, if you have a special occasion to attend, you can remove your aligners for a short time and still keep treatment on track.
You’ll enjoy more freedom in your diet choices than with traditional braces, too. The best part might be that Invisalign treatment is about the same price as regular braces, and we can work with you and your insurance to create a payment plan that suits your budget.

Invisalign Aligners FAQs
How do I clean Invisalign aligners?
- Rinse your aligners as soon as you take them out. We recommend that you soak your aligners in the Invisalign brand crystal cleaning solution every day to help remove bacteria and keep your aligners out-of-the-package fresh.
- Use a soft-bristled brush (not your daily toothbrush) to lightly sweep away any remaining debris after soaking.
- Rinse your aligners and put them back in your mouth.
How long do I wear each set of aligners?
Generally, you should wear your aligners for two weeks before changing to the next set, but because this varies by smile, you should follow our guidance. In some cases, for example, you might wear an aligner set for as little as a week before switching. This will depend on your specific treatment plan, so if you’re unsure about what we advised, be sure to ask. We love questions and are here to help!
Does Invisalign fit an active lifestyle?
Definitely, as long as you follow our guidance! You can wear your aligners during nearly any activity, removing them only for eating and cleaning. Invisalign aligners can be worn comfortably while playing sports. For contact sports, remove the aligner and wear a mouthguard recommended by your orthodontist. Invisalign aligners can also be removed for special occasions if you prefer to do so.
What are the primary benefits of Invisalign?
It varies by patient, of course, but in general:
- Clear aligners have a more aesthetic appearance—unless you like the “tin grin” look of braces, which many of our patients do.
- Treatment is affordable (about the same price as traditional metal braces).
- You’re in treatment for less time.
- Patients spend less time at the orthodontist.
- You’re not as restricted on food choices.
- You can carry out your oral hygiene routine much easier than with traditional brackets and wires.
How much time should I plan to spend at the orthodontist with Invisalign?
With Invisalign treatment, you’ll have scheduled visits every 4 to 6 weeks for quick check-ups. These appointments are quite fast and easy, as there is no need to adjust brackets or wires. Still, if it’s more convenient, we also offer remote care convenience via the Smile Doctors Anywhere App.
What about Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) and Invisalign treatment? What are they, and will I need them?
Orthodontists used to face difficulties in controlling the adjustment of out-of-place teeth in patients with severe bite problems or missing teeth, as they required external anchor points via unsightly and inconvenient practices like headgear and external braces. TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices) have since provided a solution.
By attaching an anchor to the jawbone, TADs eliminate the need for uncomfortable treatments and offer more precise orthodontic treatment for patients who need it. Not all patients require TADs. Your DN Orthodontics doctor will determine if TADs are suitable for you during your consultation and provide advice.
